She Did That On Netflix

We can all say that 2020 has been the year of clarity, showing up as your authentic self and unveiling passions that we inadvertently suppressed. Surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, a rise in women-owned- let alone black-owned businesses have ultimately skyrocketed. We’ve literally, Bossed-Up! Did you expect anything else?!

It’s no secret that a lot of big companies wanted to ride the BLM wave, Netflix included. We don’t know about you, but we’ve had our share of binge-watching our favorite shows from the ’90s. But oh! What a pleasant surprise when we stumbled across the film “She Did That” directed by Renae Bluitt, Founder of ‘In Her Shoes Blog’ and film director Sterling Milan.

A film, for us, by us, representing black women in an awe-inspiring light. A film, not just about entrepreneurship, but about perseverance, getting out of your own way, building community, and the need for collaboration over competition.

Highlighting female entrepreneurs like Melissa Butler, founder of The Lip Bar- whose concept originally fell on the deaf ears of Shark Tank hosts, but now featured in over 50 Target stores, and Denequa Williams Clarke, the owner of Lit Brooklyn who found herself unemployed and decided to turn her hobby into a success story. And let’s not forget Tonya Rapley, Founder of My Fab Finance, she came from a physically, emotionally, and mentally abusive relationship, pulled herself up, and went from broke to caked up! These women are us! They’re showing up in their humility, so we know it’s possible.

If you’re late to the show, you’re missing out! ‘She Did That’ is a must-see that will spark the need for you, yes YOU, to start! You’ll find a little bit of you in each of their stories. The rise of the Black woman is inevitable. We were Born To Beat the Odds!
